Meet Kiwi! A precious little girl dog that has a story that requires some tissues as you read. She came to the rescue/shelter world on a treacherously cold day on January 3, 2022. She was ten months old and she’d been locked in a crate, in the snow, before her rescue. She had several intestinal parasites and she was very skinny. When she was spayed, it was discovered that she had been pregnant and from what condition she was in, we don’t think she would have survived giving birth. It took a lot of medication, special food, nutri-cal paste, and probiotics to get her better. She still was not gaining weight. At one point, we felt that we were watching her starve to death. Kiwi’s life changed around Christmas 2022, 12 months later, when she got out of the shelter and went to a foster for two weeks. She did really well and even put on a little weight in the time she was in a real home. She went back to the shelter, sadly, and since then she’s made new friends, put on weight, no longer needs the probiotic, and is even able to eat normal food now! We are so very proud of her and all of her progress but dog lovers, this girl needs OUT of the shelter and she deserves a REAL HOME AND FAMILY! This girl has spent 600+ days with at the shelter and she is ready to move out and get a place of her own. Kiwi is about 45#, great with other dogs, loves playing and running in the yard with dog friends. She is crate trained, doing good on house training with regular outdoor visits, and would be great in a home with dog savvy children. She is curious about kitties but has not offered to harm any that’s she is currently around. Kiwi is a gentle soul that wants and craves loves!
