I remember when I first met Jerry Junior, the first thing I said was “oh my heck, look at that dog! He is so handsome and so loveable!” and that cannot be further from the truth. He has a beautiful salt and pepper coat that is so unique and the best ears to match. I am a sucker for big ears. Not only is he striking, he is also very affectionate and loves people! He instantly bonds with his humans and is so tolerant with physical touch that he would even make a great family dog with kids. One of my interactions with him involved a straight 5 minute hug and him just laying in my lap. He loves all of the affection and love! Any affection is good affection for this boy! Jerry is a very especial young boy and any family will be lucky to adopt him. We have no idea how big he will get but we already know he’s amazing and already such a good dog. He is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee the breed or age. Jerry is very dog friendly and got along great with all of the dogs we introduced him to, big and small! He does still have some puppy energy and can get excitable when he firsts meets a new dog but a simple correction either from his handler or the other dogs is all it takes. He is very mindful after that and respectful of boundaries. Jerry loves to play and one of his favorite games is to play chase! He was such a joy to watch frockling around in the yard with all of the other dogs having the time of his life. He would even be a great dog to take to a dog park or doggy daycare. He is still young and would be best placed in a home with other active playful dogs like him or with a family that will continue socializing him with other dogs if he isn’t adopted out with other dogs. Jerry also did great during his cat test! He is what we consider cat avoidant and wasn’t phased by them nor was he interested in them. We do not know if has ever lived with cats before but this is how was during our initial test and we cannot guarantee things won’t be different in a home. We do believe that with proper and slow introductions, he can co-exist in the home with cats. Jerry would be placed in a semi-active home with a backyard or even a condo type living environment as long as he gets the exercise and continued socialization that he needs. He would make a great adventure and hiking partner as well. He loves to explore and loves to play in the water. To our knowledge, Jerry is crate trained and potty trained but may need a reminder about where the appropriate potty places are once he arrives at his forever home. He is very treat motivated and eager to learn which will make training a breeze! We are willing to test Jerry Junio with anything you need us to in order to ensure it’s the perfect match for you!
