Meet Fergus, a 16hh, 6yo Friesian Percheron gelding. He is black, but sun bleached due to full time turnout in Florida sun. Fergus came to Florida in Feb.2023 to be restarted. He was originally trained to ride and drive by an amish farm and then sat for a few months with his new owner. The last few months have been focused on allowing his body and mind to unwind. He's a late bloomer as some Friesians can be and is now ready for someone to finish.He came as a rather shut down boy who's poor body was full of restrictions and impingements. Through months of proper biomechanics on the ground and under saddle, some bodywork, and good nutrition, he is a whole new horse. His time here has been spent working on allowing him to grow and unfold properly, building confidence in his body, but now he's ready for the actual education to start.Fergus rides outside of the arena but at this time, he is happier with a buddy for his confidence. He goes over poles and small logs. He has tried obstacles. He has a stunning lofty trot and ground covering walk. His canter still lacks confidence but is very comfortable to ride.Good for vet and farrier. Utd on deworming and vaccines. Hauls well. Good to bathe. Has been off property a few times, and although nervous in new situations, offers no funny business. He does well barefoot with strong, robust hooves.During hurricane Idalia, he was evacuated to the World Equestrian Center and did really well. He had never been in that type of atmosphere and with horses, cows, donkeys, and dogs screaming nonstop, he was a gentleman.The ideal next step for Fergus would be to go to a facility that has lots of activity. He grows best when exposed to new stimuli, extra horses, outings, etc and I'm not set up for that on my quiet personal farm. He is not for beginners as he is a healthy, 6yo Friesian with big movement, who is still green under saddle. He has great potential to stand out in the show ring as he is a head turner no matter what he does. Would be a great project for a trainer to take on with a big client base for resale, or for an experienced owner working with a coach. He is quite sweet and enjoys being in people's space, but is not at all rude or pushy. He has started some very basic liberty work as well. Good candidate for R+ methods as well.Owner is VERY motivated to find him his next partner and has wiggle room in what's being asked. Asking lowest five figures. There's an eight and a teen.
