Description:

This 1972 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 was assembled at the Flint, Michigan plant and initially delivered to Ernie Von Schledorn Pontiac-Buick of Menominee Falls, Wisconsin. The car was reportedly refurbished and modified in 2007 and was kept on display at the Hendrick Motorsports Museum in North Carolina before being acquired by the seller in 2014. Power is supplied by a replacement 455ci V8 that is said to have been overbored and fitted with a 1,050-cfm carburetor, forged pistons, a TA camshaft, MSD ignition, and an aftermarket exhaust with cut-outs. Power is sent to the wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a 10-bolt Positraction rear end, and additional equipment includes a Hurst shifter, a rear wing, Edelbrock shocks, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, and 17″ Rally-style wheels. This GS 445 Stage 1 is now offered with a reproduction window sticker, partial service records, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller's name.Factory finished in Silver Mist (248), the body was reportedly repainted in 2007 during prior ownership. Exterior features include a rear wing, quad headlamps, twin hood scoops, Stage 1 badging, and body-color side mirrors. Finish imperfections are noted by the seller.Aftermarket 17″ Rally-style wheels are mounted with 255/45 Pirelli Asimmetrico rubber up front and 275/40 Mickey Thompson ET Street tires out back. Braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs, and additional modifications include a dual brake master cylinder and Edelbrock shocks. The seats are trimmed in black vinyl, and the cabin features faux-woodgrain trim on the dash and door panels. A Painless Performance Products panel featuring fuel pump, water pump, and cooling fan controls has been added to the dash, and the Hurst shifter has been fitted with a cueball knob.A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm tachometer, while AutoMeter auxiliary gauges have been added below the dash. The five-digit odometer shows just over 87k miles, though total mileage is unknown. The replacement 455ci V8 was reportedly bored .030″ over and installed in 2007. A 2014 dyno sheet provided in the gallery showed peak output of approximately 527 horsepower and 691 lb-ft of torque.
