Named XK120 denoting itsengine type and blistering factory-claimed top speed, the newJaguars prowess was soon confirmed by test driver Ron Suttons132-mph blast in a lightly modified example on a Belgian highway in1949. A huge boost to Britains postwar Export or Die economy, theXK120 was the cornerstone of Jaguars 1950s racing dynasty and anearly mount for many future driving legends including Stirling Mossand Phil Hill. Production continued into 1954, with the Roadstersupplemented by the Fixed-Head Coupe in 1951 and Drophead Coupe in1953. As few as 2,678 XK120 Fixed-Head Coupes (FHC) were produced1951-54, with the model featuring unforgettable styling and anexquisite wood-and-leather trimmed interior.
