Description of the apartment:
It's a 1618 sq. ft. apartment on the 9th floor of an 18th floor tower. It's a corner unit that looks on to parts of the Greenbelt park and the large swimming pool of the apartment complex. It is very, very airy (with cross-ventillation) and has LOTS of sunlight due to the floor to ceiling windows.
Master bedroom -- 16' 6" x 13' with full bath. TWO walk-in closets _and_ an additional coat closet!! Looks out to the swimming pool below. 214.5 sq. ft.
Second bedroom -- 16' x 12' 6" with a walk-in closet. Window looks out to woods (*very* pretty! Sometimes you can see deer at the edge of the woods!). 200 sq. ft.
Spacious (joint) living and dining rooms, with a nice foyer and a large walk-in coat closet. There is an extra entrance to the apartment through the kitchen to ease bringing in groceries. There is plenty of built-in and extra (installed by us) pantry space.
There are also a linen closet and an extra closet in the hallway.
Furnishing: The common living areas are furnished. For the bedrooms, there are two dressers (one with a mirror), two bookshelves, one study desk and a double sized bed available if you'd like to use them, without extra cost. We'd prefer it if you decided to use some or all of them, as it'd save us rental storage unit cost.
The common areas have the following furniture:
Living and dining -- A comfy, leather couch set. TV and related furniture. A large dining table with six chairs.
Kitchen -- A 13.7 cu. ft. Kenmore Frost Free freezer (in addition to the fridge that comes with the apartment), microwave oven, kitchen stands with shelves and drawers to increase pantry space. We've also installed a shelf on the wall that we'd leave here (we sort of have to).
More about the place:
Families, young professionals and graduate students live here, so there's a very nice, quiet mix of neighbors.
Located in College Park, but surrounded by the Greenbelt park in a safe neighborhood, and it doesn't feel like you're in a college town at all! Just visit and you'll know what I mean. :-) It's minutes away from I-495, I-295, and Greenbelt Road and only a 9 minute shuttle ride away from UMD. There's also a metro bus that comes here (route R12). Both the College Park and Greenbelt Metro stations are within a 10 minute drive, (the metro bus will also take you there). There's very little traffic on the way to the university as you don't have to use Route-1 or Greenbelt road.
There's a bike trail and a fitness trail in Greenbelt park.
There are many shops in two shopping centers in the vicinity (Giant, Safeway, CVS, Target, Marshalls, Burlington Coat Factory etc.; Siri's Chef's Secret, Hunan Treasure and other yummy restaurants).
Amenities include: parking lots, fitness center, swimming pool, a huge activity room, laundry facilities and trash chute just halfway down the main corridor, etc. They do recycle. There's also a convenience store in the tower right next to ours. It is FIOS ready.
The first month's rent will be pro-rated.
