Tax Manager with Top 40 CPA firm

Location: Detroit, MI
Salary: 75-100K
Tax research and planning

Responsibilities:
Analyze clients for the applicability of various accounting methods and tax strategies, including R&D clients
Provide support in areas including R&D and DPAD
Perform technical research and analysis, write technical memos, compile other documentation, and conduct accounting method changes
Promote selected tax strategies, including client presentations
Prepare complex tax returns
Reviews prior year tax returns and work papers for understanding
Communicate and properly document tax savings ideas
Direct and monitor the work of associates
Conducts detailed review of complex returns
Maintain knowledge of client policies, procedures and business conditions
Understand the clients' significant business risks (e.g. economic, market, pricing)

Qualifications:
Possess a Bachelors Degree with a major in accounting or a related field; Masters Degree in Taxation, or equivalent is preferred.
CPA certification
4 to 8 years of experience in taxation
Demonstrate full understanding of financial accounting, including the ability to analyze financial statements
Proficient in tax research and the writing tax memos
Demonstrate the ability to identify opportunities for tax savings
Have a general understanding of most commonly encountered federal and state tax provisions
