Storage Architect needed in San Diego – contract role - job ID# SDSA

Novus Origo is searching for a well-spoken Storage Architect with hands-on experience in storage media, data protection, and recovery. Intelligent communicators are strongly encouraged to apply. Please see specific application instructions at the end of this posting.

CONTRACT TERM: 2 weeks to 6 months duration; 1099 contractor. If the contractor and the situation are a perfect match, this role could develop into a full time regular employee role.

LOCATION: San Diego / South LA area (zip code 92109)

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
We welcome candidates who have at least 5-7 years of Storage Area Network (SAN) experience in the areas of; local area networks (LAN), data warehouses/centers, and disaster recovery. **Candidates with experience outside of these areas will not be considered at this time; please do not apply if your experience does not include these specified skillsets.

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY
• Extensive knowledge of storage area networks (SAN), local area networks (LAN), data warehouses/centers, and disaster recovery.
• In-depth understanding of operating systems, servers, and enterprise applications, as well as their compatibility with storage architecture, business goals, and technology strategies.
• Proven background in disaster recovery and backup, including data replication at remote locations.
• Firm knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
• Superior communication, analytical, organizational, and presentation skills.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
Platforms: Linux, Unix, Mac OS, Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista, AIX
Networking: SAN, LAN/WAN, Network Attached Storage (NAS), TCP/IP, VPN, NFS/SMB/ CIFS/SCSI protocols, Brocade switches/directors, Multi-Protocol Router (MPR)
Storage: Enterprise Network Storage Architecture (ENSA), Federated Storage Area Management (FSAM), Serial Storage Architecture (SSA), Direct Attached Storage (DAS)
Servers: VMware, HPUX, AIX
Databases: SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Access
Applications: VERITAS NetBackup, HP StorageWorks, StorageTek, MS Office
Languages: XML/HTML, Java, C++, C#, Visual Basic

RESPONSIBILITES
• Provide operational management, technical maintenance, troubleshooting, and tuning of storage architecture and technologies.
• Implement SAN, including configuration and enhancing platform security
• Plan and deploy NAS, encompassing blueprinting and modeling.
• Asses backup environment, storage architecture, and propose recovery strategies to provide complete data protection both on-site and at off-site data warehouse.
• Analyze backup environments and implemented encryption technology for enhanced security.
• Research and develop designs, including strategic roadmap for all infrastructure SAN/storage devices and associated software and tools, ensuring enterprise-wide architecture consistency.
• Write technical documents and develop manuals for SAN and NAS.
• Assessed operating system and suggested storage architecture solutions, including backup hardware.
