I'm Ross. I'm a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter and recording producer/engineer based in Central NJ and on the internet.
I need a band.
OR, I need a band who would like to play songs I've written.
OR, a record company interested in having a band or bands on their label record my songs.
Three choices!
My head is about to explode!
Really, it is.
I have a disturbing lack of live equipment, and I've made do for a while now recording with no budget. Many people like my songs (10,000+ on Newgrounds.com), and they say they'd love to see me play live, but I can't, because of the live equipment issue. It's frustrating as hell. So, if you have practice space, I'll help you make the most of it. I don't have a practice space, just a small personal studio I've used to record. I need YOU to play live, and get the music heard by the maximum amount of people. The best-case scenario is that you are a group of musicians, not songwriters, aged 21-30 or so, with a viable practice space, instruments and amps, and the willingness and drive to make it big in a harsh and unforgiving industry. My songs might just be the key.
I play guitar, and I sing. We would play my songs, and do some covers here and there. My favorite bands are Nirvana, Pink Floyd, and Nine Inch Nails, and my music is kind of a combination of those influences. Melody, screaming, thrashing, and sometimes this weird folky bent. At this point I'm confident enough in my own songwriting ability to have a go at being the frontman. So, check your ego. I check mine regularly. :)
But I'm not really the band leader type, I don't think. Some charisma, some presence... I don't know. This is the part where if you're a cover band and you want to break into the original market, but nobody in your band can write a decent song, maybe you should hear the shit I'm writing. I'm a writer, not a cheerleader. It's just a fact. You want somebody who will get the audience pumped up and energized? Not me. I take the Cobain approach: Fuck the audience. So somebody else should probably sing and play guitar and fucking sell it every night, get asses in the seats and out of them again, get them on their fucking feet screaming for more. Do it. But play my shit. Give me credit, and royalties, and leave me alone. I don't give a shit about the spotlight. Get it the hell away from me, in fact! But you want some quality rock n' roll songs with lyrics that fucking mean something? I got it. I got plenty of it. So dig in. Save rock n' roll.
