The University of Tennessee Health Science Center seeks to hire a Registered Nurse to work in the Department of Student Health Services. The Registered Nurse will perform general studies in a clinic setting under the supervision of the UHS Director, Medical Director and/or the Occupational Health Coordinator as well as perform specific duties managing health science students in the areas of infection control and primary care. The Registered Nurse will 1. Develop and maintain a database for health information. 2. Serve as liaison to Baptist College for the Health Sciences (BCHS). 3. Provide on-site services that include student orientation, flu shots, TB skin tests and drug testing. 4. Conduct patient education, preventative health activities and training. 5. Coordinate infection control program for BCHS students, and perform immunizations, tracking, notices, follow-up letters and updates to BCHS students 6. Assist UTHSC patients and programs (e.g., TB testing, TOSHA Training, AAAHC Accreditation policies and procedures). 7. Perform lab duties including phlebotomy, calibration, proficiency testing, immunizations and TB skin tests, and drug screens. 8. Provide care and triage in emergencies. 9. Perform other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of OSHA standards, blood borne pathogen regulations and CDC guidelines; knowledge of infectious diseases, immunization requirements and respective CDC guidelines; ability to administer immunizations, take vital signs, assist and observe clients during procedures, and perform drug testing; excellent interpersonal skills. The candidate must have certification of completion of an accredited RN program and Tennessee licensure.

Additional requirements include a minimum of two (2) years experience as an RN; active certification in CPR and AED; experience in employee health, ambulatory care and drug testing preferred; OR BSN with related experience preferred.
