THE DAVE CLARK FIVE RARE "RETURN MISTAKE ALBUM" LP USA MONOThis is an original 1964 âMistakeâ album by THE DAVE CLARK FIVE titled âReturnâ. It is a Mono album Epic LN 24104. Record and cover VG+ Visual.
From 1958 to 1963, Epic Records used a yellow label with the word âEPICâ printed around the circumference of the label. In 1964, Epic severed its ties to CBS and then changed to an all yellow label with EPIC printed only at the top of the label. The new label no longer made mention of CBS and also eliminated the reference to the album using Radial Sound. The Dave Clark Fiveâs 1ST album was issued with the new label which no longer made mention of these two items.. However, their second album was initially issued with the obsolete EPIC label and then quickly withdrawn as CBS had been notified that the label had been âRetiredâ and was threatening to sue EPIC as this label stated that the album was a âProduct of CBSâ. As with most withdrawn records, not all were captured and this is one that was not returned to Epic for destruction. Unfortunately, the new Epic label could not be pasted on top of the old label as the old label showed clearly through. EPIC was forced to destroy the returned records. EPIC was already being chided by the industry for using cheap vinyl to cut expenses and it nearly went belly up.
The record cover has a piece of old tape or old shrink wrap at eye level of band member kneeling on right side of cover picture. It's not a repair and I did not try to remove...will leave that up to buyer. Other than that it is in great shape with minor wear. Has beautiful seams, spine and printing on the spine. VG+
Also has the original yellow Epic record sleeve. The shiny, super glistening vinyl record has minor scuffing. VG+
This is a true rarity that only occurred in the USA and only in Mono!!!
