This is a Pitney Bowes 550 Series 5.

I do not know the history of the machine. But i do know that it is in completely operational.

That it needs a little maintenance. as well that this model, hardly ever jams
The system will run - 4200 Mail Pieces per Hour doing 4 inserts.

It can insert and fold 4 letters/reply envelopes/flat inserts - because this is being sold with all the additional modules.

I've posted some information that i found on the Internet below about this machine.

It is a table top set up, so it is much more compact for its workload then a lot of other machines in its category. Unless you want to spend $30,000 plus.

The system features a trial piece mode that delivers a sample mail piece for accuracy inspection before starting a job.

The Double Document Detectors automatically sense if the correct number of sheets have been inserted into the paper path.

The Tabletop Inserter System has been engineered for a straight top-driven paper path for greater reliability and easy access to documents in the system.

Clear the Deck feature clears all documents from the system's paper path by finishing a mail piece when stopped. All guesswork is eliminated so productivity is maximized which limits jams significantly.

The 5 Series(tm) Tabletop Inserting System can be configured based on the customer's specific application and inserting needs.

The modules included with this machine are:

-- The Cross Folder pre-folds oversized documents and materials, such as computer printouts and posters, before they reach the standard folder.
-- The Sheet Feeder - feeds the correct number of cut sheets into each collation.
-- The Folder - which can handle a five-page collation, allows the address to be placed almost anywhere on the document and still match the envelope window.
-- The Insert Feeder - adds a piece that does not need to be folded, such as a coupon or reply envelope, after the other collated sheets have been folded.
-- The 5 Series(tm) Base Unit - receives the collated and folded sheets, inserts them into the envelope and, then, seals the flap. The mail piece is now ready for metering. The base unit also serves as the control center where all modules are controlled and programmed.

It needs maintenance from a Pitney Bowes rep. But all modules are in working condition.
