This is a “typical” day as a Hallmark Retail Merchandiser. At the beginning of each day, you will sign in to the Walmart vendor log located at the Service Desk You will proceed to the Receiving area of the store and check in with the receiving manager to see what freight has been delivered. The freight may consist of a few boxes or up to 20+ boxes during busy seasonal times, and they can weigh up to 50 lbs each. You will manually load all delivered boxes onto a cart to transport to the assigned bin space for Hallmark in the backroom. Boxes will be placed on the shelves in the bin space according to the Hallmark Service Standards. You will also transport any product needed to service the department that day to the card department in the front of the store.

In the Department, you will replenish, straighten, and track inventory of the every-day and seasonal greeting cards and specialty items which includes gift wrap, party supplies and other stationery items. You will use a hand-held computer to determine product placement, track inventory and determine replenishment needs. You may have to walk to areas outside of the card department to service other displays in the store. When your work is complete, you will log out of your INFOLink unit.

You will be required you to lift boxes up to 50 lbs as well as stoop, squat, walk and stand for long periods of time. You will need to interact in a professional manner with store employees, management and customers while in the store.

In this position, you will serve as an on-call floater for two Walmart stores located at 3300 Nw Crain Hwy in Bowie, MD and 6210 Annapolis Road in Landover Hills, MD. You will provide back up to the merchandisers in the stores to cover vacations and sick time as well as provide additional support during busy holiday times. You must be available to work as needed any day of the week during morning and afternoon hours, especially during busy seasonal periods. You must be available to work up to an 8 hour day during the seasonal peaks. When scheduled you must be available to be in the store by 9am.
