Following is an overview of a “typical” service day as a Hallmark Retail Merchandiser in a Walmart store. You will be required to wear a Hallmark name badge and apron at all times while you are working the Hallmark Card Department.

At the beginning of each day, you will sign-in to the Walmart vendor log located at the Service Desk and clock in by using a handheld computer called an INFOLink. You will then proceed to the receiving area of the store and check in with the receiving manager to see what freight has been delivered for the day. The freight may consist of a few cartons to up to 20+ cartons during peak seasons, and they can weigh up to 50 lbs each. You will manually load all delivered cartons onto a cart to transport to the assigned bin space for Hallmark in the backroom. The cartons will then be placed on the shelves in the bin space provided. You will also transport any product needed to service the store that day to the Hallmark Card Department.

In the Hallmark Card Department, you will replenish, straighten, and track inventory of the every-day and seasonal greeting cards and specialty items which include gift wrap, party supplies, etc. You may also have to walk to areas outside of the card department to service other displays in the store.

When your work is completed, you will clock out/sign out of the department. Upon arriving home, you will transmit your INFOLink unit to report your time worked and the activities you completed on your service call. You must have consistent and reliable access to an analog phone line in order to complete this transmission. Analog phone service is basic telephone service provided by the local telephone company. The transmission can not be completed through cellular service or through digital service. If you have phone service through an internet provider such as Time Warner, Comcast or Cox, you most likely do not have analog service.

As you can see, this can be a very physical job that requires lifting cartons up to 50 lbs, stooping, squatting, walking, and standing for long periods of time. You will need to interact with store employees, store management and customers while in the store. You will have to complete these duties in an efficient and timely manner to stay within the budgeted hours for the store.

You will service three Walmart stores located at 2500 S Adams Rd, Rochester, MI, 45400 Marketplace BL, Chesterfield, MI and 18400 Hall Road, Clinton Township, MI. You must be available to work during morning and early afternoon hours on Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun. You will typically work 2-3 days a week. Although hours are not guaranteed, you will typically work 6-10 hours each week during non-seasonal times and 11-15 hours during busy holiday periods. You must be available to work extended hours 2 weeks prior to and the day immediately following major holidays.
