Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talks with customers in person or by phone. Visit job sites as needed to provide client services.
Prepare and conduct sales presentations of new and existing products to customers and potential customers, displaying or demonstrating product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizing salable features. Accompany Vendors and members of the Business Development Team on sales calls on a regular basis.
Increase sales and average order size by means of cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales and offering promotional as well as new products.
Develop profitable "new repeat customers" for the company.
Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products. Remain current with changes in local codes and consumer preferences.
Quote prices and credit terms and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained.
Assist clients with special requests. Investigate and resolve customer problems with deliveries or other areas within the company.
Estimate date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
Work with inside sales representatives to keep account activities up to date.
Coordinate (30 day) account receivable efforts with the Branch Manager and Credit Manager.
Notify manager of possible stock-outs due to increased sales.
Coordinate customer training w/ Human Resources.
Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
Develop and maintain relationships with purchasing contacts.
Remain current on product and industry knowledge by attending sales meetings, vendor training, trade shows, or reading trade journals
Develop and maintain proficiency in the use of the Eclipse program, Web Order Entry, Inter and Intra company e-mail systems, and other programs as necessary.
Present a professional image at all times to customers and vendors.
Attend and participate in all branch and company meetings.
Follow company policies and procedures.
