We saw a Hawaiian Monk Seal from this apartment! The most magnificent, breathtaking ocean and sunset views from this apartment. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms. Pets OK upon approval.Each room is directly on the ocean-- the eat-on lanai, master bedroom, kitchen and living room are all directly on the ocean. Even the second bedroom faces the ocean. You enter the ocean directly from the property. (There is access to the ocean on site.) There is a storage rack for your kayak and surfboard, as well as a bike rack and two storage lockers per apartment.
Look straight down and see fish in the ocean from this apartment. Look to the right from the lanai and see the "Pink Palace" (Royal Hawaiian Hotel) and Waikiki Bay. From the left you'll see the annual canoe paddlers racing from Molokai. Look straight ahead and see waves and boats. From this apartment you'll see sunsets every night (12 months a year!) and from the lanai you'll see the fireworks every Friday night.
The building, Tropic Seas, was built in 1958, and has very thick solid concrete walls (you'll never hear a neighbor). The lease term is flexible. The address of the building is 2943 Kalakaua Ave. The apartment number is 808, a corner/end unit on the eighth floor. It is two doors away from the Elks Club, which is next door to the Outrigger Canoe Club. The Aquarium is down the block. Free street parking in front of the building. Or reserve a parking stall next door. Walk to the tennis courts. Whale watch in the winter months.
This is a people-friendly building. A number of residents gather at the lounge area on the ocean side of the property every evening before sunset to watch the sun go down. There are stairs that go down to the swimming area. There is a barbecue grill and outdoor lighted dining table under the Hau tree for your use, so you can invite your friends and family to join you for dinner as the waves beckon four feet away.
Back upstairs in the apartment: There is a pass-through from the kitchen to the lanai so you can have your meals at your table on the lanai which sits above and looks out onto the ocean and over the coconut trees. The configuration of this apartment actually creates two ocean frontages to this unit because the coastline wraps around a corner at this spot. This spacious apartment's size is 1132 square feet. There is also a view of Diamond Head Volcano. The building is opposite Dillingham Fountain, which is lighted at night. The friendly resident manager is extremely helpful. Trash chute and recycling closet on each floor. Each bedroom has its own en suite bathroom.
Brand new refrigerator and stove/oven. Recently renovated (new flooring, new paint, new dishwasher and disposal). The rent is $3150 plus $100 for utilities (electricity, hot and cold water, sewer, and basic cable) plus $150 for Hawaii State General Excise tax.
