GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs substance abuse treatment and rehabilitative services for Drug Court participants. Performs related duties as required. The position is located at the Ada County Fourth District Court, Drug Court Counseling center.


 


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Conducts evaluations, screenings, and assists with the selection of potential Drug Court clients;

  • Develops appropriate treatment plans and maintains on-going records of treatment;

  • Conducts group education and therapy sessions as well as individual counseling sessions;

  • Finds and screens possible guest facilitators and acts as a liaison for the program and community resources;

  • Develops and updates appropriate educational and counseling materials for program participants;

  • Participates in evaluating the effectiveness of the program;

  • Attends weekly Drug Court staffing and court sessions as directed;

  • Prepares weekly progress reports for Drug Court Judge and Drug Court team to include attendance, behavior, progress, drug testing results, and recommendations;

  • Observes defendants urine drug tests and completes necessary documentation;

  • Provides case management services and makes referrals to community-based services as needed.

 


ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:


  • Responds to requests for information in reference to substance abuse, the Drug Court program, and possible referral services;

  • Reports compliance or noncompliance of Drug Court participants to the Drug Court Coordinator;

  • Writes reports about the substance abuse program and the data and statistics developed in the program;

  • Collects follow-up information on each program graduate for the purposes of obtaining statistical information;

  • Inputs and organizes said statistical information on a database;

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

 


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor level education in a related field (i.e. Psychology, Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, Sociology) with credentials in chemical dependency (CADC) preferred;

  • Knowledge of the treatment of chemical dependency;

  • Knowledge of modem treatment services and programs;

  • Knowledge of individual and group behavior;

  • Knowledge of literature on current substance abuse treatment studies;

  • Ability to provide appropriate and consistent treatment while maintaining security and appropriate client behavior;

  • Ability to conduct evaluations with verified evaluation tools;

  • Ability to conduct and develop interesting and informative lecture groups;

  • Ability to maintain control of manipulative populations;

  • Ability to facilitate therapy groups and individual counseling sessions;

  • Ability to set boundaries with defendants who push the limits;

  • Ability to remove defendants from treatment for breaking the rules;

  • Ability to be a team player with the Drug Court team;

  • Ability to plan, organize and accomplish work assignments;

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;

 


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


  • This position will require employees to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings and weekends;

  • Must attend regular staff meetings and work in conjunction with staff of the Ada County Drug Court Program;

  • Incumbent is subject to a background check.

 


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions;

  • May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.;

  • Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
