Please read the following information, which should answer any questions you may have about the driver positions, such as hours, compensation, what do I deliver, etc. These positions are temporary, not permanent, and will run for about eight weeks. If you are looking to make money to pay off your Xmas bills, driving is the way to do it.
I am a FedEx Home Delivery Contractor and need the extra drivers to deliver packages, since my daily package volume will quadruple during November and December. I will be hiring up to ten drivers to keep up with the demand. The driving positions I am looking to fill are for delivering packages for the upcoming Xmas season. You must be professional, detail oriented, and dependable. The positions are temporary only, and will run for about eight weeks, starting about the last week of October, and lasting to Xmas, possibly into January. Being a temporary position, I will pay you by company check, with no taxes deducted, and will supply you with a 1099 IRS misc. income form in mid-January. I have hired seasonal drivers in the past to work as permanent drivers after the Xmas season was over, if they did an outstanding job delivering for me. All of the other contractors work closely with me, and if I did not have an opening for a permanent driver, I would give your name to other contractors for possible full time positions.
To qualify for the driving positions, you must be at least 21 years old, pass a DOT physical, drug screen, DMV check, background check, and have six months minimum of VERIFIABLE, in the last three years, ”business driving” experience. “Business driving” experience would include courier, bus, taxi, limo, pizza, auto parts, furniture, water, flower, oil, route sales, or any other previous delivery experience. If you do not have the driving experience, FedEx Home Delivery will have you attend a one week driving school which will enable you to deliver packages upon completing and passing the driving requirements. While you are in the training class, FedEx Home Delivery will pay you $7.40 per hour. If you drive for the terminal temporarily, you will be paid $11.22 per hour.
The Home Delivery terminal is located in Warren RI, about two miles from RT. 195 East at exit 2. You will leave from this terminal in the morning, and bring your truck back at night. I have my seasonal drivers report at 7:00 AM, scan all of the packages on their route, load their truck, and leave with their paperwork. I will supply every driver with comprehensive training on package delivery and safe driving, a 10’ box truck, gasoline, scanner, state of the art turn-by-turn directions, and map books. You will be a reflection of my company, and me, so this job must be done correctly at every delivery stop. You will have everything you will need to deliver packages professionally.
You will be paid $1.25 per delivered stop, where a package or packages are left. Last season, I had drivers who were delivering 60 stops per day, 80 stops per day, and I had drivers who were delivering 100+ stops per day. I will determine how many stops per day you will receive, based on your delivery experience. You will not be paid by the hour, but by the amount of stops you deliver to. If you average 9 stops per hour, you will make $11.25 per hour. If you average 15 stops per hour, you will make $18.75 per hour. I have drivers who can average 20+ stops per hour. Your pay will depend on how many stops you deliver to daily. Average hours would be from 7:00 AM to whenever you finish all of your stops, usually no later than 3:00 to 4:00 PM. My delivery areas are Plainville, North Attleboro, South Attleboro, and Attleboro, in MA. And in RI, Foster, Hope, Cranston, Pawtucket, Cumberland, Lincoln, Smithfield, Albion, Manville, and Central Falls. If you live in, or are familiar with these areas, I will have you deliver there.
