Business Development Engineer

Location Bolton Mass


POSITION PURPOSE
Focus on the acquisition and development of new business opportunities in business areas including C3I, Radar, EW and EO/IR sensors and subsystems to support the growth and profitability. Provide business development support to the sales and marketing activities. Support the development of capture plans and conduct product/technology market analysis. Assist in preparation of and provide divisional briefs to customers. Assist Sales, Engineering and Programs groups in proposal preparation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Assists in winning new business in all areas of interest.
B. Identifies, evaluates and generates recommendations regarding new customers and business opportunities. This includes determination of specific opportunities, development of capture and contact plans, and execution of these plans in coordination with Sales.
C. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with key personnel within customer organizations. Uses these relationships to identify new business opportunities and to assess customer opinions. Share these findings with management and recommend actions.
D. Assists in collecting and analyzing market information needed to establish and update business and capture plans. This information is to include opportunity size, competitive landscape, recommended win strategies.
E. Analyzes and defines the market for Company product growth within assigned product market segments. Maintains a "served-market" analysis defining the total market, Company market share, competitor market share, and available market share by product markets. Provides update data for the
business plan.
F. Provides data to prepare update and control forecasts covering projected new business sales, bookings, proposal activity/costs and investment requirements by customer and program. Determines, where
available, market pricing requirements and assists in establishing product pricing policies.
G. Works closely with and assists Product Line & Program Managers to ensure customers receive the highest quality proposals which meet customers' expectations. Assists with technical/specification negotiations with customers in coordination with Site Product Line & Program Managers and
Engineering Managers.
H. Participates and maintains understanding of State-of-the-Art application for existing and potentially new products and makes recommendations for new technology/resources and training.
I. Performs other duties as assigned by Director.

SPECIFIC OUTPUTS
A. Monitors, documents and coordinates new business opportunities developed. Prepares and coordinates customer inquiries with Programs as appropriate and ensures that all necessary customer procurement documents and processed per the ISO requirements.
B. Performs market analyses and provides recommendations to the Company regarding marketing opportunities.
C. Provides information regarding business capture plans and updated data for business planning and associated business recommendations.

D. When assigned, lead the preparation of "winning" proposals; those that that are detailed, well written, organized and prepared in accordance with the customer's requirements.
E. Prepares and presents product and capability briefings to customers. Attend industry events such as conferences, trade shows; represents company at these events and identify and develop new business and product
opportunities.
F. Develops contacts and effective relationship with business, technical and program management personnel at customers and potential customers.
G. Maintains effective working relationships with Sales, Engineering and Programs.

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS

Minimum BS in engineering or business
Preferred BS in engineering with MBA
Minimum Staff Sales Person Electronics or Aerospace
5 yrs

Preferred Business Development Antenna and/or RF Microwave
10 yrs Engineer Electronics
Manufacturer



OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
A. Proven success with customer service and satisfaction in a
manufacturing environment
B. Excellent oral and written communication skills
C. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage numerous projects
simultaneously
D. Familiarity with defense acquisition policies and procedures
E. Experience and ability to interface with customers on all aspects of
procurement, including bid & proposal, and execution of design and
development programs
F. Competence in using standard business computers and programs

Requirem
1. Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering.
2. 5+ years sales/business development experience in Aerospace or related Electronics.
3. US Citizen.
4. Sales experience in RF Microwave or Antenna.
5. Local or regional (roughly 300 miles or less for a short move).
6. MBA is a plus.
