Features & Description

1) Provides day-to-day management/leadership while promoting a team culture within the Blood Bank Area with regard to workflow and personnel issues.

2) Mentors and coaches staff to ensure quality performance, as well as completing required formal evaluations by assigned due dates. Provides and documents initial counseling at the bench level as necessary. Collaborates with the Lab Manager for subsequent counseling or disciplinary action.

3) Participates in budget, planning, and management efforts including, but not limited to, reviewing the monthly financial statements for accuracy. Actively assists and supports departmental activities to ensure that operational and salary expenses are equal to or less than approved budget.

4) Initiates and oversees the technical review of new technology and equipment for possible acquisition. Maintains knowledge of current methods, testing and techniques through Continuing Education and or appropriate materials or professional organizational opportunities.

5) Supports the implementation and training for new test methods and equipment.

Requirements
Bachelors in Medical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Health Care or equivalent; SBB (ASCP)

Preferred, Candidates without SBB will be considered but will be required to obtain SBB within 1 year of accepting position.
Minimum 5 years blood bank experience; additional experience in the management of personnel is preferred.
Requires a minimum of two years related laboratory bench work. Must have excellent team communication, analytical and process skills.
Experience in facilitative leadership, team process, trouble shooting, and follow-through of objectives and projects.
Strong communication, coaching and facilitating skills are required.
