Our bay quarter/pony, Cody is about 12 HH (he may be taller, I haven't measured him), 9 yr Gelding. I think he might be perfect for an age 10+boy or girl. I am 5',5'' and 180 lbs and his withers are about shoulder/chest high on me. If what you are looking for is a quiet, lazy pony for to gain confidence with, I think my Cody is what you are looking for! He is a former lesson horse, used on trails with a nice walk, trot, canter and has a soft mouth. He rides both english and western. We have recently discovered that he does do some jumping as well. He is very friendly and is the first one to greet you at the fence. He is very much an in your pocket pony. Loves to be groomed. Is easy to catch. You can hop on him in the pasture and ride him bareback or tack him up with out tying. He stands quietly for tacking, fly spraying, bathing, clipping etc. We purchased him a few months ago and I have been working on his ground manners - he has been coming along nicely. He can be a bit pushy when it comes to feed time. We have put about 200 lbs on him since he has been with us. He was very skinny! With all the work we have put in to him he is looking great! I'm not sure if he drives but with a little training I think he would make a great driving pony as well. He has a calm been there done that disposition. The only reason we are considering trading him is I have just purchased my dream horse and need to devote my extra time in her training. We all have our own horses and he is the odd man out now. That and he and my mini don't get along. I think this comes from how skinny he was before we got him. We figure that he was turned out with a herd of larger horses and he had to 'fight' for his food. When he is turned out with other horses he can bully others that are smaller than him for those reasons. A good home is an absolute MUST. We can negotiate delivery if needed. Thank you for your interest in Cody. I wanted to update the listing as there has been some new developments. Cody is not for a beginner. We do not recommend him to young children. He needs a more advanced rider. He can be stubborn especially when it comes to food. He needs someone that is not afraid to show him who is boss. He did recently bucked me off once. Looking back on it it was my fault. I separated the horses to ride Cody by himself in the pasture. I fed the other horses in the other field. Once he noticed that the other horses were eating and he wasn't was when he started to give me issues. This was very unexpected. He has never done this to me before. I feel the need to add this to the ad as I don't want him to go to a home that is not experienced. I want him to go to a good home. We are willing to negotiate his price to ensure that he finds a good home.
