Responsible for instructing classes that offer clients a method to maximize workout efficiency, improve fitness, increase stamina and improve overall sense of well being. Constantly challenging clients to ensure they are growing to become stronger and more balanced to achieve short and long term goals.Offer alternatives during classes to accommodate different levels of fitness. There will be individuals that have not participated in a regular workout routine in years as well as those that workout everyday. Be sure to challenge all levels of fitness while motivating individuals to always achieve for more.
Plan routines and choose different movements for each set of muscles, depending on participants' capabilities and limitations.
Observe participants and inform them of proper form necessary for skill improvement and to prevent injury.
Instruct participants in maintaining exertion levels in order to maximize benefits from exercise routines.
Teach and demonstrate interval training, strength training, cardiovascular exercises and flexibility so that individuals have a clear understanding of the class.
Monitor participants' progress and adapt programs as needed.
Provide students with information and resources regarding nutrition, weight control, and lifestyle issues to the best of your knowledge. Always explain that you are not a registered dietician and your advice is based on experience.
Administer emergency first aid, wrap injuries, treat minor chronic disabilities, or refer injured persons to physicians. Remind individuals that you are not a physician and can only make recommendations but they must seek their physicians advice.
Advise clients about proper clothing and shoes.

Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology or related area or nationally accepted certifications listed below. Group Fitness or Personal Trainer certificate from NASM, NSCA, ACSM, ACE, AFAA, COOPER, or ISSA. Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
Skilled in the safe and proper use of machine weights, free weights and cardiovascular equipment. Excellent customer service skills, energetic, enthusiastic and motivational. Excellent physical fitness, professional manner and discretion. Excellent verbal and promotional skills. Must be dependable and have a good work ethic.
Must be able to demonstrate or verbally explain proper equipment usage. Requires bending, twisting, pulling, reaching, stretching, straining, kneeling, grasping, gripping, and frequent lifting.
