Interac Co., Ltd. is currently accepting applications for Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) positions. ALTs help native Japanese teachers teach English in public schools throughout Japan. We recruit motivated, culturally-sensitive, mature individuals. A seminar will be held in Cleveland Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 for positions commencing in late March 2010.
We encourage those interested in teaching English in Japan to visit our website (https://www.interacnetwork.com/recruit/) and there learn about Interac, read our FAQs, and apply for a position. Once successful candidates pass the initial screening, we call them to do a phone screening. Upon passing the phone screening, we send an invitation with the location and time of our upcoming Cleveland seminar where an Interac recruiter will conduct the presentation and interviews. Since we receive a large number of applications, this process can take several weeks.
All applicants must meet the following requirements:
Have completed 12 years of education in the medium of English.
Attend a recruitment seminar and an interview in the U.S. or Canada.
Hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
Be professional in all aspects of behavior.
Be a team player, flexible, cheerful and energetic.
(Teaching experience and Japanese language proficiency preferred.)
ALT positions are available in the rapidly-expanding elementary and junior high school language programs. ALTs work approximately forty hours per week from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday to Friday (no evening, weekend, or Japanese public holiday shifts). Approximately half the working hours are contact teaching hours. The remaining time is for lesson planning and performing other school duties.
ALTs receive an attractive monthly salary of 230,000 to 250,000 JPY, vacation periods, commuting reimbursement, subsidized health insurance, paid transportation, and free Japanese lessons online.
