ALTs help native Japanese teachers teach English in public schools throughout Japan. Employment starts in late March or early April 2010 (the beginning of the school year in Japan). To be considered for an interview in Nashville on Nov. 21st, candidates MUST currently reside in the USA or Canada and have a bachelor’s degree (must graduate before December 20th, 2009). Candidates must also be native English speakers with at least 12 years of education in the medium of English in an English-speaking country, be able to START working in March/April 2010, and be willing to commit for the duration of the contract (until March 2011). All applications must be submitted online on our Interac Network website (do not e-mail resumes).
In order to be considered for an invitation to a recruitment seminar, the following must take place:
1) Submission of a complete application on our Interac Network website (including work-related references). First priority will be given to candidates with work or academic references including names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and the reference's job title.
2) Once submitted online, we will do an initial screening and if candidates pass, we will e-mail candidates to let them know they have passed the initial screening. Included in the e-mail will be an FAQ. Our website should be used to schedule an appointment to speak with one of our recruiters. This information is included in the e-mail. During the phone screening, we will ask questions pertaining to the FAQ to test knowledge of the position, and to determine suitability to attend one of our seminars/interview sessions. We strongly recommend that you thoroughly read the FAQ.
3) Candidates who successfully pass the phone screening will then be sent an invite and the details of the recruitment seminar/interview session. Please note that only successful candidates will be contacted due to the large number of application.
Candidates who demonstrate a true desire to work in a rural setting and who speak some Japanese will be given preference. We have received an unprecedented number of applications and preferences are being given to those applicants who are truly flexible with location and are willing to take a rural assignment.
