If youâre a first time home Buyer, then surely you must be aware of the federal governmentâs stimulus package that offers you an $8,000 tax credit! Set to expire on November 30, the tax credit has been extended through APRIL 30, 2010. Buyers will have until the end of JUNE 30, 2010 to close. First-time buyers who are in the process of making a purchase will no longer need to worry about qualifying for the $8,000 credit if they close after the November 30 deadline. The new legislation increases the income limit for couples with income up to $225,000, a nearly $55,000 increase above the level in existing law. The government defines a first-time buyer as anyone who hasnât owned a home in the past three years, so some former owners may qualify for the tax credit!
