Work starts in mid January and will end between mid March and mid April. Field locations are throughout the mid Willamette Valley. Packing and shipping facility is in North Salem area.

Position 1 Digging crew: Diggers usually work 6-10 hours each day, depending on weather. Frequent days off due to inclement weather. Diggers will work in any weather above freezing and will frequently work in light showers. Fields are located around the mid Willamette Valley so ability to move to a variety of locations is required. Digging involves lifting small trees, which have been mechanically loosened, out of the soil and shaking them to free any residual soil from the roots. Trees are then packed into boxes to be taken to the grading room. The work requires kneeling in the soil or bending and pulling the trees all day. The maximum weight to be lifted is 65 pounds. Frequent Saturday work will be available. Raingear is advised but not required. Gloves are provided. Pay is $9 per hour.

Position 2 Grading Room: Graders usually work 6-8 hours each day with some days off due to inclement digging weather. Graders stand in front of conveyors grading for quality and size while counting small trees. Ability to stand on concrete in unheated room for 8 hours is required. Lifting of up to 65 pounds is required. Gloves are provided. Pay is $8.40 per hour.
