SYNOPSIS: GORDITA is a short film about a young, plus size El Salvadorian woman who has lost her confidence, but reclaims it through the help of a cassette tape she recorded as a boisterous teenager in 1994.

FILMMMAKER BIOS

Half-Salvadorian Writer-Director, DEBBY WOLFE's first feature screenplay FREAKO, was a finalist for the 2008 American Zoetrope Screenplay Competition and the 2009 Sundance Screenwriter's Lab. The feature is based on her 35mm thesis short, CAT'S BAD HAIR DAY, which played over thirty film festivals including Tribeca, and won student awards at the Hamptons International Film Festival and the Palm Beach International Film Festival. Debby also wrote and directed the HD short film PATTERNS starring Emmy Award winning actor, David Lago. PATTERNS was accepted into the LA Shorts Fest and Chicago Reel Shorts Fest. A graduate of The University of Central Florida Film School (B.F.A '04), Debby currently resides in West Hollywood, CA.

Producer AALIYAH WILLIAMS's first short film, THE YOUNG AND EVIL, is an official selection of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Aaliyah began her entertainment career working and nurturing relationships at companies such as the Endeavor Agency, producer Effie Brown's Duly Noted, Inc. and Forward Pass, Inc., where she worked directly with award winning director Michael Mann. Her producing and line producing talent has been recognized as a 2008 Fellow of the Sundance Independent Producer's Conference. Aaliyah's current projects include producing the ground breaking web series, BUPPIES, starring Tatyana Ali, Julian Breece's first feature film, BALL, and Debby Wolfe's upcoming short film GORDITA. A graduate of Harvard University (AB '02) where she was a producer and stage manager at the American Reperatory Theater, Aaliyah currently resides in Los Angeles.
