System Administrator –

Qualifications

• Job Description

• Provide system administration support to teams of developers working on diverse family history related projects.

• Work with developers to assist them in bringing their systems to a production ready status.

• Aid in the development of run-books for diverse systems.

• Aid in the development of proper alerting and monitoring systems for diverse systems.

• Draft, update, and follow best practices and standards documentation.

• Coordinate and perform maintenance activities in large geographically dispersed multi-platform enterprise environments.

• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network related issues.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of experience supporting Linux/Unix systems

• Experienced with Linux (SLES is a plus) and Windows

• Experienced with basic TCP/IP configuration and troubleshooting (must understand subnetting)

• Experience configuring routers is a plus.

• Scripting experience, preferably including Perl and PHP.

• Understanding of SQL and ability to form basic selects and joins.

• Cisco and/or Foundry certification is a plus

• Strong skills with mass system provisioning/deployment/automation is preferred.

• Experience with virtualization technologies is a plus.

• Ability to communicate well on paper and in person. Capable of producing quality documentation.

• Able to work under stress, handle multiple priorities, and adapt easily to rapidly changing environments.

• Experience working in datacenters.

• Familiar with wiring/rack best practices and procedures. •
