IT System Software Engineer (Fremont / Union City / Newark)

Our client is a rapidly growing company focused on developing next generation analytical laser instruments and solutions. The company is expanding its product development efforts in laser spectroscopy-based technologies to meet emerging needs in the security, environmental, semiconductor, storage and life science industries. We are looking for engineers in the area of system software development to contribute to the company’s fast growth. The candidates must be willing to meet various challenges ranging from designing experimental systems, data acquisition and analysis and customer support.

Responsibilities:

• Design and program the analytical instrument operating software architecture.

o The scope will include:

• Integration of different system components to establish proper communications among various system hardware components

• Spectroscopic and mass spectrometer data acquisition

• Data processing and analysis (i.e. statistical analysis) of the acquired data

• GUI interface development

• Standard report generation for the end user

• Work with engineers, scientist, and program managers to review and implement the software requirements.

• Implement software engineering change orders (ECOs) generated by the end instrument users as well as the instrument development engineers.

• Lead continuous improvement program (CIP) of the operating software which involves adding additional functional capabilities based on the existing hardware platform and synthesizing various spectroscopic data to improve elemental analysis result.

• Deployment of the software tools and training of the end users.

• Participation in the development and execution of the company roadmap for software tools.

• Support for field software issues.

Minimum Job Requirements/Qualifications:

• Must have system software development experience with

o Lab View and associated NI hardware

o C/C++ and related language

• Experience with Real-Time programming techniques

• Must be familiar with writing programming documentation

• Good interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate product development project task items with design and manufacturing engineers

• Highly detail oriented

• Ability to meet deadlines and perform urgent work when necessary

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Master’s degree preferred

• Knowledge with laser optics and analytical instrumentation a plus.

• Experience with instrumentation including laser spectroscopy and mass spectrometry helpful but not required.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in system software development
