Features & Description

We are an original project that has been in various stages of completion in the past few years. We are looking for a drummer who doesn't mind the heavy beautiful-ugly stuff, as well as acoustic jams. I write everything with a little help from my bass player now and then (he is excellent, and if I get stuck he is unbelievably good at completion of the elusive verse, bridge or chorus). We would like to find someone who can sing a little too, but that is not a deal-breaker (I take care of all the guitar and singing currently). I don't like to make comparisons to any band because we've always tried to go for our own sound but my influences include Alice In Chains, Kyuss, QOTSA, Clutch, Smashing Pumpkins, Deliverance-era Corrosion of Conformity, Tool (though I would never consider us progressive), Wilco (not the early, super-country stuff), Blind Melon, older Marilyn Manson, and many others (I would have to get a list from my bass player if influences are that important to you). And trust me, we do not have time here to list the bands that I like/love and admire.

If forced to give a description of our sound, we are not a light and airy pop kind of thing. Some of it is extremely heavy, but don't let that scare you off. I have always been told that it is unbelievably catchy (so there is some amount of pop sensibility to it) and someone even told me the heavier stuff was "like The Deftones but with better hooks". I'm not real sure if I would describe it that way (I try to get a thicker, more vintage guitar tone, ala Kyuss and so far there are no electronica or sample aspects, but I'm not against that, either).

As far as writing goes, I always go for the song, not any technical sort of thing, and love to get input from everyone involved. There also is plenty of lighter acoustic stuff that sounds 100% different from the heavier Gibson/Mesa-fueled tunes, and the sound of those acoustic songs are too broad and diverse to give a good description of here.

Our focus is 100% on writing, rehearsing and recording (when we are ready). Neither of us are married or have any kids (that we know of - that's humor, people), but that would not be a problem either, if you are committed to your craft. We go by the name of "The Evil Genius Foundation" and that is not a negotiable aspect. Looking to blow everyone away with complex studio arrangements [as much as our or my wallet(s) will allow] and high-energy live shows. We both have pro gear and enough chops to be dangerous.

We would like to set up some sort of mutual audition if you do not have any other projects that take up all of your time. Email me at pole.kelley@gmail.com or just reply here and I can send you my phone number (740 area code). We both live in the greater (or lesser, depending on your opinion) Lancaster area, and our practice spot is about halfway between Lancaster and Logan just off of Rt 33 (about 1/2 mile from the highway), so it's an easy drive (from Columbus).

Please reply only if you are serious about your music and your musical ambitions . We have alot of fun but we're sick of F'n around and not getting anywhere. Thank you for reading this and we look forward to discussing this project with you.

Thanks again,

Pole
