MICHAEL GELLMAN: ALL OF IMPROV IN A NUTSHELL

Michael Gellman guides you from the improv developed by Paul Sills in the 1950s to where it’s going. Using ideas found his book, Process: An Improviser’s Journey, eliminate fear and doubt by embracing discoveries and reactions, no matter what “form” of improvisation you pursue.

Award-winning director MICHAEL GELLMAN was a Resident Company member of The Second City Chicago and has directed at The Second City since 1980 (and is currently a Senior Faculty member of The Chicago Training Centre). With Mary Scruggs, he is the author of Process: An Improviser's Journey. Michael has taught at Columbia College, Northern Illinois University and Artistic New Directions - NYC.

SUNDAY JUNE 28th 11AM-1PM

BECKY JOHNSON: BEGINNING IMPROVISATION

Have you always wanted to try improvisation? Did you take a few courses but you're still at the start of your journey? This session with Becky Johnson will jump-start you into improv in a gentle way, learning to be calm and listening to the scene as well as your own point of view.

BECKY JOHNSON is best known for her work with Graham Wagner in Canadian Comedy Awards-nominated IRON COBRA, seen in Vancouver, Atlanta, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Nashville, Minneapolis, Providence, Boston, Chicago and her home of Toronto. Becky's training is in physical and non-literary theatre. She has created her own theatrical works (of clown, social studies and frivolity) and been given awards for that, too.
