With 98 photographs and 930 obituaries and newspaper articles of family members, the book concentrates on the descendants of John Callaway (1746-1821) and Bethany Arnold (1749-1844), early settlers to Wilkes County, and the families their descendants married into during the past 224 years.

Numerous Georgia families with Callaway ties are highlighted, with dozens of charts and outlines that identify common relationships that have occurred in the family throughout the generations. Also included is an outline of early Callaway Connections in Wilkes County that descend from Edward Callaway (1711-1769) and wife Elizabeth of Onslow County, North Carolina, ancestor of Job, Isaac, Joseph and Joshua (brothers of John) who also came to Wilkes County.
