Features & Description
The following listing is for an awesome antique doll carriage or stroller. As you'll see in the last photo, it has suffered an unfortunate 'mishap'.The bad news is that I'm taking a huge loss, but the good news is that you get a beautiful piece worth at least $1200.00 for a bargain price. All you need to add is a little TLC. The front wheels need to be put back on. One runner under the carriage needs to be reattached in one spot. One of the wrought or cast iron arms/braces and the carriage top have to be put back on. It is such a wonderful piece that the repairs are well worth doing, in my opinion, and this is a great chance to get a wonderful antique for very little money. As you'll see in the photos, this is a very old one, probably Victorian era (if not slightly before?). The carriage is in original blue paint with yellow accents. The wheels, handle (which is a great form), and undercarriage are in natural with black paint accents. The interior seat and carriage top are leather. The top is fringed like a surrey. It has a gorgeous cast iron mechanism that allows the top to move. Because of the age and use it undoubtedly saw, it does have condition issues. I've taken several photos so that I'll gladly send you through email, but I'll mention them for you. The fringe has come loose or is missing in some areas, but most of it is there. The leather on the top has some cracking. It appears that the top has at some point come at least partially off. It is attached by only three screws, one of which is not flush with it's opening, indicating that it was probably removed or replaced. The fourth screw is missing, and probably has been for some time as the top is slightly off kilter, and the bracket and screw hole do not properly line up. The interior leather has a tear, and a bit of cracking. Not that much considering. The leather piece in the foot area is curled a bit on the ends. Most of this is loose, so you can see the difference in the color of the paint between that which was exposed to light/air and that which wasn't. The handle bar comes loose from the long part of the handle on one side, but there is no actual damage. There is an age crack in the wood on the back of the carriage. The paint shows general wear. (please see last photo for pics of the flaws caused by the recent mishap mentioned in the beginning of the listing)This wonderful antique beauty measures approximately 32 1/2" long, about 29" tall, and about 14" wide. The paintexcellent. Please feel free to ask questions about anything I might have forgotten to mention, or request additional photos of something specific, if needed. This item has been in a private collection for many years.
