Description:The Biometrics Automated Toolset (BAT) is an established system that is helping lead the effort to identify foes in the War on Terror. A worldwide system in use with the US military, BAT utilizes biometrics to positively identify individuals in a shifting world of identities. The senior software engineer would utilize their skills in an agile environment to help maintain and enhance the legacy BAT system, as well as design and develop the next generation system in a .Net environment.Essentials Functions: •The Sr. Software Engineer will be a key member of a software development team developing and deploying the BAT which is finding increasing use among intelligence, law enforcement and immigration agencies (e.g. FBI, CIA, Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies). •Without supervision, the Sr. Software Engineer will perform tasks requiring knowledge of software applications, coding and design functions, to include software analysis, design, testing, and documentation of software specific to BAT. •This role requires a detailed understanding of biometrics functionality and the ability to analyze and evaluate customer requirements and system incident reports. •Provide input to documentation and recommend design changes and/or enhancements to the system. •Mentor junior engineers in an effort to develop these individuals into well rounded engineers.•May be required to interface with the customer.Minimum Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree that provides a substantial degree of knowledge in software engineering efforts, and/or in a computer science, information system, a physical science, engineering or a mathematics-intensive discipline is highly desired•Have a minimum of 8 years software engineering experience •Demonstrated senior-level experience with SQL Server 2000/2005, Microsoft C## or Microsoft •Visual Basic, and Microsoft Visual Studio .Net 2003/2008•Possess 6 years or greater experience in software design, development, testing, documentation, and training•Have significant involvement with complex or substantive information technology projects•Possess/demonstrate: strong organizational and analytical skills, personal initiative, attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communications skills, self-initiated activity, and the ability to accomplish detailed research and the resultant analysis•Abe to work independently and/or in a group and work well with others•Be proficient in the Microsoft Office applications suite•Possess a strong customer service orientation and ability to support multiple task assignmentsDesired Skills:•Microsoft Team Foundation Server, InstallShield 10.5-12, XML, HTML, ADO, ASP.NET, DCOM, COM+, •Web Services, ArcGIS, Analyst Notebook and experience in developing enterprise applications•Familiarity with biometric applications •Military and national intelligence agency background with a clear understanding of the military structure, mission, and responsibilities•Operational familiarity with various database and software capabilities used to manipulate the data and perform feature extraction, change detection and data set analysis strongly desiredMust hold a Secret clearance or higher
