The SOA Software Engineer will be a member of an agile team developing, maintaining and deploying the Biometrics Automated Toolset (BAT), which is finding increasing use among intelligence, law enforcement and immigration agencies (e.g. FBI, CIA, Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies). The SOA Software Engineer will perform enterprise-level software engineering tasks requiring knowledge of service standardization, enterprise service governance, service security, service packaging, optimization and maintainability. Services will primarily be developed as Web Services using VB.Net, but understanding of other pertinent technologies and approaches to SOA is essential. The SOA engineer will perform system and software design activities, working closely with other design engineers, requirements analysts, management and customer representatives.

Essentials Functions:

•The SOA Software Engineer will be a key member of a software development team developing and deploying the BAT which is finding increasing use among intelligence, law enforcement and immigration agencies (e.g. FBI, CIA, Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies).

•Without supervision, the SOA Software Engineer will perform tasks requiring knowledge of software applications, coding and design functions, to include software analysis, design, testing, and documentation of software specific to BAT.

•This role requires a detailed understanding of biometrics functionality and the ability to analyze and evaluate customer requirements and system incident reports.

•Provide input to documentation and recommend design changes and/or enhancements to the system.

•Provide advice and expertise to the technical manager on Service Oriented Architecture design and implementation in the BAT system.

•May be required to interface with the customer.

Minimum Qualifications:

•Bachelor's degree that provides a substantial degree of knowledge in software engineering efforts, and/or in a computer science, information system, a physical science, engineering or a mathematics-intensive discipline is highly desired

•Have a minimum of 10 years professional software engineering experience.

•At least 2 years of specific experience developing in a SOA environment is required.

•Must have demonstrated experience developing software with SQL Server 2000/2005, Microsoft Visual Studio 2003 or later for enterprise systems or applications.

•Demonstrated experience with successful deployment of a non-trivial SOA implementation is also necessary.

•Possess/demonstrate: strong organizational and analytical skills, personal initiative, attention to detail, good verbal and written communications skills, and self-initiated activity.

•Be able to work in a close team environment

•Be proficient in the Microsoft Office applications suite.

•Possess a strong customer service orientation.

•Familiarity with biometric or other intelligence applications is a plus, as is an understanding of the military structure, mission, and responsibilities.
