3S 4222 UHF 2 Bay Bowtie antenna is compact, light weight and optimized to receive HDTV signals. If You're familiar with the Channel Master CM 4220, be prepared for a Higher Quality, High Gain, Ease of Installation Antenna that brings Bowtie into the 21st Century.Polished and Machined Aluminum gives this Antenna an asthetically pleasing look. Riveted Construction combined with Steel Hardware and Wing-nut Assembly with Plenty of finger room means Installation couldn't be easier. I've installed many Antennae in my day, and I always felt like I needed a third hand. But not with this antenna; it's Ultra-light, no dropping of nuts (rubber stop grommets reduce that likelyhood) and I practically mounted it with one hand! (Thank the Installation Gods for Huge real metal wingnuts) Plenty of Space behind the antenna for access to the mounting hardware eliminated cuts from trying to wedge my hand in tight spaces while Mounting and Aiming the Antenna. Which, as you know, is one of the many draw-backs of installing some of the older style mesh screen antennas like the 4220 and copies now being sold by Aska and on eBay for the same or more money than this one costs!
If You have a good clean and unobstructed view of the TV Transmitters from the Installation Location of this Antenna, You can receive crystal clear, native, uncompressed HDTV UHF signals up to 30 miles away from the broadcast tower. And it's got a 32 degree Beamwidth to boot! As Terrestrial Digital / HDTV broadcasts become more prominent, UHF antennas will play a larger role because the majority of the HDTV/Digital channel allocations will be in the UHF frequency band. Operation in the Red and Blue Reception zones may require use of a Pre-amplifier.
