Up for sale is my CLEAN AND CLEAR TITLE 1996 Honda Civic project, though I did not buy it as a project.
This is a Black 1996 Honda Civic 4-door Automatic non-VTec project that just needs a head for a quick
easy fix or replace the whole motor if you want lower miles. A low mile motor and trans combo is cheap,
ranging from $300-500 even on ebay. There is a nice B18B1 and GSR tranny swap on Springfield CL right now
for $600obo with a ported head, cams and exhaust. That motor has only 3000 miles on its rebuild and has
everything for the swap except the mounts. I think the stock mounts will work with a 99-00 Si rear mount.

The body is in great condition, mechanically (Aside from the head) the whole car is in great mechanical and
electrical condition. The radio is the stock unit and has a volume problem (Doesn't work! :D) but its not
even a tape deck so you would want to change that. The windshield wipers sometimes come on as well due to
the multiswitch, another cheap item but it isn't all the time so you could live with it or replace it.

The A/C blows cold and we have not discharged the system so that someone wanting to change the head or
swap engines wont have to either.

The Gray cloth interior is in exceptional condition for the age and smells good, all lights and gages
work perfectly. It has power windows but manual seats. All four windows work perfectly. As far as I can
tell, this car has never been smoked in, no smells, ashes or burns.

The suspension is tight with no creaks or rattles as it should be from factory and stock. The tires have
lots of tread on them and are wrapped around the stock steel rims with hub caps. The passenger side axle
was changed with the last owner.

This Honda has never been in an accident and has NO hail damage! There are the normal dings and dents and
I will try to outline those in pictures, but there are very very few, less than 10 the whole car over.

The Short-block:
It looks great, good crosshatching left, it doesn't knock, no pitting or scratches and the rings are good
as you can not jiggle or move the pistons side to side or back and forth.


The reason it is a project - The Head -
The head leaked lots of oil into #3 and then a chunk of the valve just broke off. It did not scratch the
piston or the cylinder. A rebuilt D16Y7 head can be bought for just $189 from ebay.


In all this is a well cared for Stock Honda civic that had a head problem causing it to burn oil and then
destroy the valve. This is a great cheap project for somebody who wants to build the car how they want
it. You can have the car running stock with a rebuild head for under $400 or swap to that B18B1 and GSR
5spd for under $1000 and have a nice 165hp (140hp stock) modded B18B1 swapped Civic.


We are selling the car because there is another Mustang that we would like to buy and I can not see
spending more money on this car. We paid $3000, if it ran perfectly its only worth about $2500, I do not
want to lose more money for a car that was suppose to be a good gas friendly mommy car.
