Features & Description
1967 Dodge Freeway Traveler Vintage CamperWe bought this neat old vintage camper from a local long-time owner a couple of years ago, and now it's time to let the old girl go to a new home.
It's a factory conversion called a Freeway Traveler, made in Elkhart, Indiana from a stock long-wheelbase Dodge A108 van.
The real cool part of this camper is the full aluminum pop-top - complete with glass windows with screens! You can literally raise the top in a few seconds, and stand tall inside this vinatge camper. And, it all functions perfectyl and is in great shape!
She's incredibly original, and the entire interior is included - working sink, icebox and table/bed plus the upper bunk! All privacy curtain rods are in place, and my wife made some nice curtains that are included.
She's powered by a 225 "Slant 6" and three-speed automatic. Not sure if it's the original engine, but have no reason to believe otherwise. Runs well, no noises or smoke. Probably one of the most simple and durable engine/transmission combinations you can get.
The camper runs and drives well - remember that it's a solid axle 42 year old truck with manual steering and brakes! But, she goes down the road straight and true and, while no rocket from a stoplight, will cruise at 65+ mph.
I've re-sealed the transmission and oil pans, so she doesn't drip. New brakes, front and rear, front spring bushings, wheel cylinder kits, rear axle seal and a carburetor rebuild are all included.
Remember, she's 42 years old, and while she was given well above average care, there are still plenty of "character marks" present. Nothing to be ashamed of, but I just wanted to let you know.
She's so original that the previous owner won several trophies at car shows over the years! No, he didn't give me those trophies.
She's licensed and insured, so you can come take a test-drive, and check her out for yourself.
