2008 Chevrolet Malibu Review

Chevrolet's 2008 Malibu Classic is overshadowed by the redesigned 2008 Malibu, but it still represents a viable choice in the mid-size sedan class. The only trim available is the LT sedan, which is powered by a 219-horsepower 3.5L V6 engine. Shifting duty is ably handled by a four-speed automatic transmission.

The LT is very well equipped, with cruise control, audio controls mounted on the steering wheel, remote keyless entry, air conditioning, a CD player, and power doors, locks, and mirrors. Safety items include traction control, anti-lock brakes, and front, side, and side curtain air bags.

An optional Luxury and Convenience Package includes an auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, illuminated vanity mirrors, rear reading lights, front fog lamps, and 16-inch chrome wheels. Remote vehicle start, heated front seats, XM satellite radio, and a sunroof can all be added.
Chevy carried the 2007 Malibu forward into 2008 and renamed the model the Malibu Classic while they finalized the launch for the all-new 2008 Malibu. As one would expect, the Malibu Classic is nearly identical to last year's model, with the notable absence of the Malibu Maxx body style. Also, traction control and ABS are now standard on all models, and rear drum brakes have been upgraded to discs across the board. The LTZ and SS trims have been discontinued, leaving only the LT sedan. see less
