2007 Nissan Pathfinder Review

The 2007 Nissan Pathfinder is available with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and it comes in a number of trims. Regardless of flavor, all Pathfinders utilize a 4.0L DOHC V6 engine that produces 266 horsepower and 288 ft-lbs of torque. This latest generation of Pathfinder, which debuted in 2005, is based on the same F-Alpha platform as the Titan SUV and Armada pickup truck. The additional stiffness jives well with the Pathfinder's squared-off styling.

The Pathfinder's interior is exceptionally roomy and comfortable. First and foremost was the height of the seats. With a commanding seating position, the view down the road is as good as the much larger Chevy Suburban.

The instruments sit under a deep hood, and are very legible. The center stack for the heater and radio is surrounded by a piece of plastic that does a good impression of brushed aluminum. The beefy shifter for the five-speed automatic falls readily to hand on the wide console.

The entry level Pathfinder is the S trim, which includes a tow hitch, power mirrors, a third row of seating, a tire pressure monitor, air conditioning, a CD player, and power windows and locks with remote keyless entry. The SE trim adds a front tow hook, thicker tires, a roof rack with cross bars, fog lamps, running boards, a power driver's seat, and a fold-flat front passenger seat. The LE trim adds such desirable items as 17-inch aluminum wheels, a power sunroof, automatic headlamps, power heated leather front seats, dual-zone automatic temperature control, rear air conditioning, a Bose audio system with a six-disc CD changer, air bags all around, and a memory function for mirrors, pedals, and the driver's seats

The SE Off Road trim is ideally suited to rock climbers. Aside from four-wheel drive with hill descent control and hill start assist, the model carries four-wheel brake-activated limited slip, off-road tires, skid plates, and larger shocks.

All Pathfinders come with a plethora of electronic safety devices. The four-wheel disc brakes have ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution for safe and sure stops, and vehicle dynamic control helps avoid spins.
Due to the change in the ratings of the 2007 models, the engine outputs on the Nissan Pathfinder are lower, but really haven't changed. The 4.0L V6 engine was rated at 270 horsepower and 291 ft-lbs, and is now rated at 266 horsepower and 288 ft-lbs of torque.
