2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Review

The 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse coupe comes in three different variants-the sporty GS, luxurious SE, and high-performance GT. The GS and SE come with a 162-horsepower, 2.4L four-cylinder engine mated with either a five-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic, while the GT steps way up to a 263-horsepower (260-horsepower for Spyder), 3.8L V6 engine with either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic. The Eclipse Spyder returns to the Mitsubishi line-up for 2007, being offered in GS and GT trims.

Standard equipment with the GS includes a CD sound system and six speakers, split-folding rear seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, and keyless entry. Along with the V6, the GT adds traction control, larger ventilated rear disc brakes, an outside temperature display and compass, and fog lamps. The SE model keeps the four-cylinder engine but adds 18-inch alloys, leather seat trim, a sunroof, a Rockford Fosgate premium audio system, steering wheel audio controls, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The Premium Sport Package on the GT adds 18-inch alloy wheels and V-rated tires, aluminum pedals, and extra luxury equipment including dual-zone climate control, leather heated seats, and a power sunroof on coupes. GS Spyders also have an optional Leather Package, which brings leather seats (heated in front), heated mirrors, and a multi-function display.

On coupes, either the Sun and Sound Package, the Premium Sport Package, or SE trim brings a powerful, 650-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system. All Spyder models get this audio system, tuned for optimum audio performance with the top up or down.

Seat-mounted side air bags are standard on all Eclipse models, while front-seat curtain side air bags are also included on coupes.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse was completely redesigned for 2006, so there are few substantial changes for 2007. The popular Sun and Sound Package is now available on the GT, bringing a power sunroof, a Rockford Fosgate premium audio system, steering wheel audio controls, and an electrochromic rearview mirror. The SE trim has been added to the coupes, which offers the more economical four-cylinder engine, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seating, and the contents of the Sun and Sound Package.
