The new 2007 Chrysler Sebring is available with three different engines, ranging from frugal to high-performance. A 173-horsepower, 2.4L four-cylinder engine is standard on all styles, matched with a four-speed automatic transmission, and delivers the best fuel economy of any non-hybrid vehicle in its class, at 24 city, 32 highway.
A 189-horsepower, 2.7L V6, paired with a four-speed automatic, is available as a step up on the base Sebring and Sebring Touring. This engine can run on any mix of ethanol and gasoline up to 85 percent ethanol (E85), and gets 22 mpg city, 30 highway on gasoline.
At the top of the range the 3.5L V6 engine, with 235 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque, is paired with a new six-speed automatic transmission and AutoStick shift control. The combination is available as an option on the top Sebring Limited.
Sebring's interior is quite distinctive, and also borrows cues from the larger 300 sedan. All Sebring models feature distinctive two-tone interior themes. An LED interior lighting system with high-focus white lights for front and rear seats is available. Front and rear seating positions are about 2.5 inches higher than before for a better outward view. Rear 60/40-split folding seats are standard on all Sebring sedans (with seating for five), and a fold-flat front passenger seat is featured on Touring and Limited models.
The base Sebring's standard equipment includes air conditioning, power windows and locks, power heated mirrors, a CD player with MP3 compatibility and input jack, cruise control, and tilt/telescope steering adjustment. The Touring and Limited add more standard items; the Limited, for instance, includes a Boston Acoustics speaker system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, and fog lamps.
One of the most notable new options for 2007 is the MyGIG navigation/audio system that includes a 20-gigabyte hard-disc-driven audio system, which can store music and pictures, and even record voice memos. The system has MP3 compatibility and easily interfaces with other devices via USB. When the vehicle is not in motion, the 6.5-inch touch screen can show movies. It can also supply traffic updates via the Sirius satellite radio capability.
Several other clever features on the Sebring include a heated and cooled front cup holder, stain-resistant fabric, and a DVD rear-seat entertainment system.
The Sebring has a full range of safety features standard, including front-seat side-mounted air bags, and anti-lock brakes. Side curtain air bags are also standard on the sedan. A stability control system is optional on all models.
The Sebring, Chrysler's mid-size sedan, is all-new for 2007, with a more upright design, styling that borrows cues from the larger Chrysler 300 models, and upgraded interior appointments.
The powertrain lineup has also been completely revamped, with a new standard four-cylinder engine that's 15-percent more powerful yet more frugal, an E85-ready optional V6, and a powerful 3.5L V6 and six-speed automatic available.
Chrysler's Sebring TSi has been discontinued for 2007, leaving the base style, and Touring and Limited trims.
