Tribute
A
freshening for the 2005 Tribute sport-utility vehicle includes a host of minor
styling updates along with a modified suspension. Offered in both front- and
four-wheel-drive versions, the line has been simplified to include just two trim
levels. A new 153-horsepower 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine in the base "i"
version adds 23 horses for '05, while the carryover 200-horsepower 3.0-liter V-6
powers the top "s" model. Both engines can be mated to either a standard
five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic transmission. Anti-lock
brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution are now standard, and a new
four-wheel-drive system features Active Torque Control Coupling, which manages
the amount of engine torque that's sent to the rear wheels on a real-time basis
as needed to maintain traction.
