My Notes edit

My self-summary

I'm an undecided-career-path student living and working in Omaha, NE. I'm also working on creating my own area corporate identity consultancy (graphic design, marketing, that kind of stuff).

I love films (don't ask how many are in my Netflix queue right now), geeking out (Macs, gadgets, design, sci-fi, etc), cooking (Indian, Thai, Japanese, and though I'm not vegan, cooking vegan), and lifting weights. I also enjoy political discussion (as long as you're not a bigot) and learning about religion and philosophy.

I'm in a relationship of over three years with my closest friend and perfect foil, who I trust ultimately and from whom I find so much inspiration. I knew before I even met him that we were the best match I had ever imagined... and it feels like just yesterday when we met. From our senses of humor to music and film tastes to our world views and values, I've never met anyone as cool as him... at least not in person. I have met some cool people on the internet, but it's a little different. Anyway, we're not swingers or anything like that (I'm actually the one with the much higher libido), but we have talked over the years about our relationship and about being poly/open. We're happy with our lot, but we aren't closed to possibility. I know it's a rare and fleeting possibility that either of us would meet someone who appreciated all of these things, but the point isn't that I am/we are looking for it... I really don't think it is likely; it's that we're open to it. That's why my status says "available" and not "single" and also why I say "we" sometimes without realizing it!

When I want to learn about something, I usually have to know everything that there is to know--I immerse myself until I feel confident in my understanding of a subject. I like to be there for people, listen to them, and if I can, help or educate them. I live for new experiences and trying new things. I'll try almost anything once!

I find the bear or cub build very attractive. I like men who are stocky, beefy, muscled, or just chubby and cute... builds like construction workers, ex-football players, wrestlers, or just the normal dude next door are very hot to me. But just as hot are guys with sexy ink, punk piercings, geeky glasses, shaved heads, dark features, and facial hair or sideburns. Of course, none of those traits are as important as a genuine smile.

If you are an intelligent, open-minded, kind, and up-for-anything type of guy, I'm sure we'd be good friends. But if you are looking for more, it helps if we have a number of things in common, that you're willing to make memories with me, have an insatiable libido, and want to make the world a better place.

What I'm doing with my life

Each day I try to learn something and open my mind to the rest of the world and myself.

I'm really good at

Giving honest advice, making people feel comfortable. Photo-retouching. Geeky/technical/mechanical stuff.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

It's cheesy, but my blue eyes.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books...I have difficulty sitting and reading fiction because I lose my interest (ADD?), but non-fiction I enjoy--basically anything I can learn from or use by researching. Philosophy books, psychology books, fitness books, GLBT books, design books, philosophy teachings... photo, portraiture, and art books (I admit it, I have an ongoing affair with coffee table fodder).

Movies... Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind / I Heart Huckabees / The Royal Tenenbaums / Requiem For A Dream / As Good As It Gets / Amlie / Me And You And Everyone We Know / I Heart Huckabees / Elizabethtown / Stranger Than Fiction / The Hours / Run Lola Run / Water Drops On Burning Rocks / Pi / Donnie Darko / Being John Malkovich / Adaptation. / Eyes Wide Shut / The House of Yes / Fight Club / SuperSize Me / Bowling For Columbine / Fahrenheit 9/11 / Who Killed The Electric Car? / Why We Fight / tons more. I appreciate them because they makes you ask questions, think about things so differently, and oftentimes show such creativity and yet restraint in the cinematography. But I do have a special place in my heart for cinema that isn't life-changing film... Movies like Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, The Sweetest Thing, But I'm A Cheerleader, Down With Love, The SpongeBob Movie, Saved, etc., and all of the usual gay stuff and movie musicals I needn't mention.

Music... Amy Winehouse / Fiona Apple / The Dresden Dolls / Madonna / Tori Amos / Alanis Morissette / Le Tigre / Jewel / Belle and Sebastian / No Doubt / Ladytron / Felix da Housecat / Vitalic / Goldfrapp / The Cardigans / Avenue D / Metric / Black Eyed Peas / The Pierces / Basement Jaxx / Gwen Stefani / M.I.A. / Lady Sovereign / Nelly Furtado / Ani DiFranco / Fischerspooner / Peaches / The Faint / Michael Buble / Jem / Vive La Fete / Tegan & Sara

Foods... I have the most varied palette of anyone I know, and I love to try new things. But I don't like chewy things, things with suction cups, or baby things. I do prefer Thai food, [East] Indian food, Japanese/sushi/nigiri, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, and traditional American "diner food." Mmm, I'm hungry.

The six things I could never do without

I could never do with out my loved ones, my email, salicylic acid, my music, and glasses or contacts (I'm so blind).

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How am I not myself? How am I not myself? How am I not myself? (I Heart Huckabees)

On a typical Friday night I am

I don't have a typical Friday night, but maybe I'm at home alone watching a movie, hanging out with some friends, experimenting with dinner, or just bumming around the internet avoiding sleep.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I feel sorry for men and women who shave their legs. One time, I tried it on a whim... my first thoughts were that I could never install a habit of such tedium into my daily life. Despite that, it was nice and smooth for half of a day, before those AWFUL, painful bumps set in. I did like being able to see my leg muscles better, but on a man I think that hair is sexy. Really sexy. Lesson: DON'T SHAVE YOUR HAIR!!! Hairy guys are sexy.

You should message me if

...you'd like to find a new friend, or just talk to someone.

...you're familiar with any of my music, movies, or interests listed (especially obscure ones!).

...you invented the internets.
