We have an immediate opening for a Statistical Project Manager for our Chicago, IL location.  This SPM will be working with Insurance Claims Data from many of the nation's largest insurance carriers.  This is a great opportunity for a recent PhD graduate in the areas of Math, Statistics, Decision Sciences, Financial Mathematics or Actuary Science with experience in developing predictive models.  

Responsibilities 

  • Develop models employing appropriate statistical and/or data-mining techniques such as (Regression, GLMs, clustering, decision-trees, neural networks, etc.)
  • Perform the data-preparation aspects that precede model development, and use quantitative methods to analyze data and ensure data integrity. Perform the detail data processing of the pre-modeling/pre-scoring data preparation
  • Translates initial and ongoing/updated client objectives into a workable solution that optimally combines the data/analytical services offered by CP
  • Follows technical guidance of senior staffs on statistical project design and methodology issues to achieve valid and statistically defensible results
  • Sets and meets analysis time frames and deadlines. Creates and presents results of analyses to Manager and/or internal stakeholders and to the client. Provides written follow up on client comments and suggestions, and strives for client satisfaction with delivered reports and models. Escalate to management any internally or externally imposed delays which may affect time schedule.
  • Plans and tracks all projects. Analyzes and assesses the value of internal and external data elements which support risk segmentation. Interfaces with systems and production personnel to assure timely, accurate production of datasets and implementation of models 

Knowledge and Skills

Required Skills and Experience:

 

  • Master degree in Statistics, Decision Science, Mathematics or related field required
  • 2+ year experience in building predictive models and performing statistical analyses by utilizing statistical knowledge in SAS
  • Excellent analytic, critical thinking and decision support skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate conclusions and strategy implications to peers, manager, partners and clients.
  • Thorough knowledge of applying technology to business issues.
  • Ability to think independently and being detail oriented

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience in insurance or credit risk modeling by using credit bureau attributes is preferred.
  • Extensive SAS experience in BASE/STAT and/or Macro on multiple platforms such as PC, Unix or Mainframe
