DESCRIPTION
The Loft:
Space and light. Those are the hallmarks of a genuine loft and this one's got them in spades. Gleaming original floorboards, wainscoting, and exposed columns and beams co-exist with crisp granite, chrome, and stainless steel. It's an industrial look - but warm, welcoming, and comfortable.

The 2600 square foot luxury loft occupies two levels in a former 19th-century pillow factory. The sun-drenched upper level is furnished with an eclectic mix of modern classics and antiques. On this floor are the expansive living, dining, and kitchen areas; enclosed master bedroom (king-sized bed!); full bathroom; and laundry closet. A unique custom-designed work station provides ample space for laptops and papers.
<br><br>
A broad, open stairway descends to the Zen-like lower level. This peaceful sanctuary contains a king-sized platform bed; sitting and work areas, closets, and a knockout bathroom with black granite tiles and a glass-enclosed shower. It's really like a loft within a loft.
<br><br>
Between the two king-sized beds and a queen-sized Italian leather sleeper sofa, the apartment can sleep six comfortably. Whisper-quiet central air-conditioning keeps you cool all summer long. And thousands of books and CDs are available for your enjoyment for those quiet evenings at home.

A secluded entry porch has a cafe table and chairs for two. The private outdoor area is another great spot for morning coffee or afternoon sunning.

Parking:
A reserved, off-street parking spot is literally at your doorstop. Get out of your car and you're six feet from the loft's entry gate.

Location:
The loft is just over the Cambridge line in Somerville, two short blocks - a three-minute walk -- from the Davis Square Redline T stop. The cognoscenti know Davis Square, situated on the Cambridge-Somerville line, as one of the most vibrant, desirable, and well-located of Boston's many fabled squares and neighborhoods - a prime destination for strolling, shopping, dining, art and cultural events.
<br><br>
Utne Reader called Davis Square one of the 15 'hippest places in North America'. You can walk to Tufts and Harvard from the loft, or take the 'T'- it's only two stops (4 minutes!) to Harvard Square. Another two stops and you're at MIT. Keep going two more stops and you're across the Charles River and in Boston. In fact, you can take the T from Davis Square to Park Street 'the heart of Boston' in 15 minutes! From Park Street you can walk or take the Green Line to Beacon Hill, Back Bay, Faneuil Hall, The Freedom Trail, Science Museum, Boston Common, Waterfront and North End.
<br><br>
Even though the loft is mere steps to the myriad shops, cafes and restaurants of Davis Square, it is quiet, quiet, quiet - tucked away from the hustle and bustle on a residential side street.

The Neighborhood:
The loft is one block from the colorful neighborhood center. Among many other stores you'll find owner-operated bakeries and small groceries; a wine shop, ice-cream parlor, butcher and 24-hour convenience market; funky retail boutiques; performance theaters, post office, copy shops, banks; personal care and professional services; health and fitness providers; and a renowned used bookstore.
<br><br>
With over half a dozen cafes, Davis Square is prime people-watching territory. Home to academics, artists, students, musicians, and families that have lived for generations in the same house, Davis Square attracts a culturally rich and diverse population. The Somerville Theater, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is known citywide as a venue for independent and mainstream films, and cutting-edge concerts. Across the street, Johnny D's serves up great food along with nationally known jazz, Cajun and blues bands. Davis Square hosts the weekly Somerville Farmer's Market and many ongoing street fairs and arts festivals.

Choices for dining out are numerous and intriguing. Whether you're hankering for Asian or American, Indian or Italian, Mexican or Mediterranean, Davis Square will please every taste with award-winning restaurants.
