Can't adopt but want to help? Please contact Lisa at lm2n@earthlink.net to find out about sponsoring Baby Bear! You can save animals like Baby Bear by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters, so that they have more time to find a permanent family. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please click here and email the questionnaire to lm2n@earthlink.net.Miss Baby Bear is a beautiful 9 month old 35 lb mini-lab mix girl. She's friendly and sweet, and is in the DC area looking for her forever home.
Baby Bear landed in a high kill rural shelter in SC as a young puppy, and was promptly adopted by a local family. However, when she got to be 30 pounds, the family returned her to the shelter as she was "too big". A shelter volunteer took Baby Bear home with her to foster for a few weeks to keep Baby Bear off the list of dogs to be euthanized (as an owner release she would have been the first to go), and she was a doll - great with the 3 and 5 y.o. children and 4 cats in the house, and friendly with all the dogs and people she met. However, the volunteer couldn't keep Baby Bear at home with her long-term, so the poor pup ended up back in the shelter.
Baby Bear has normal energy levels for a young lab mix - which means she's super-energetic and enthusiastic! After playing for hours with the other dogs in her foster home she settles down to chew on a bone, or for a tummy rub. She's looking for an active family who wants a dog who will do things with them, and she'd make a GREAT companion for another playful dog. She's very sweet and loving, but does need someone with the energy for a young lab! Breed Estimate: lab mix Sex: female Weight: 35 pounds Approximate age: 9 m.o. Location: DC area foster home Housetrained: working on it Coat Type: medium and silky Personality: friendly, bouncy and happyBaby Bear's adoption fee is $275, which covers the cost of her routine vet care and spaying.
