Some History of the Lotus Elite
Assisted by long suspension, it is a remarkably comfortable car which truly takes corners 'as if on rails'. Fabulously successful in racing - powered by the Coventry Climax 1,216cc ohc engine, the Elite went on to win its' class at Le Mans six years running, from 1959 to 1964. The Elite is so notable that an example is believed to be on permanent display in the American Smithsonian Institute. .
