Essential Function The VP of Consumer Insights and Analytics is responsible for driving our customer strategy from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective.This leader will bring an understanding of consumer behavior, market trends and competitive dynamics to inform our business strategy and decision making. This key leadership role will be a champion of the customer through all elements of the organization while also providing context to business performance and building the customer roadmap for future growth.This role is charged with leading and evolving our customer analytics function including reporting/KPI's, and development/implantation of machine learning models that drive results and allow us to deliver more personalized connections with our customers. This leader will use customer data to provide a more robust understanding of the trends of the business.This role also manages the learning agenda ensuring that the organization is building a knowledge base that supports our sales growth and differentiation. Using test and learn, primary research and external sources, this role will ensure we are advancing our understanding of the customer to drive growth.This highly cross functional role will interface with the Merchandising, Product Development, Marketing and Strategy teams to ensure that the customer is at the center of our decision making. Primary Duties 35% Owns the customer database and directs and oversees the management and improvement of the customer database to ensure that it is accurate and effectively and efficiently used. Creates a strategic Vision on how to use the customer database data effectively to drive sales. Leads development of actionable machine learning models Creates customer growth roadmap including focus customer aspirations and insights Monitors progress against roadmap and guides organization on strategic choices Elevate the Brands' understanding of the customer and market opportunities in partnership with other teams (e.g., customer segmentation to inform actions in merchandising, marketing and channel execution) 35% Create and manage the Customer Learning agenda for SBH. Develop a holistic view of consumer behaviors / preferences, feedback, and market and competitor trends and insights to identify future opportunities. Lead the organization's consumer and market learning agenda across several workstreams, including Own Brands, Promotional Calendar Strategy, and Advertising/Brand Infuse consumer-centricity into every aspect of the organization and provide consumer-driven thought leadership to cross-functional teams on key initiatives. Ensure customer metrics are managed alongside financial outcomes Own relationships, scope, and budget for third-party research vendors Guide consumer, market, and competitive intelligence analysis and research, lead the team in synthesis of ongoing work into actionable insights, and communicate findings and recommendations to leaders across the organization Ensure effective execution field research through workshops, interviews, focus groups, and usability surveys and transform insights into strategic initiatives Monitors Market share to benchmark performance vs the outside market. Provides external context and delivers insightful recommendations to teams Leads test and learn agenda to drive learnings and insights. Ensures test results are being thoughtfully evaluated 15% Lead, develop and motivate people and teams. Takes action on poor performers and calibrates performance. Collaborate with cross functional teams. 15% Influence SBH strategic direction by leveraging in-depth customer, market, and competitor knowledge. Supports LRP development with fact base and market trend awareness Monitors progress on LRP initiatives from a customer and market perspective Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor's degree 15+ years of experience in consumer and market insights, customer analytics; working with brands and retailers to drive growth Experience managing people and teams Proven strong influencing skills in cross functional organizations Demonstrated success building organizational capabilities through process design, recruiting and training high-performing teams and utilizing external agency partners, consultants and suppliers Competencies and Attributes Strategic thinker and demonstrated leader Analytical and Data driven; experience building an analytics roadmap to deliver insight Hands on creator; comfortable rolling up sleeves and working alongside the team Storyteller; able to bring the organization to a deeper understanding of the customer Customer centric, brand steward Results-oriented Strong communicator and collaborator Resourceful and adaptable Poised, composed, credible, good judgment Working Conditions and Physical Requirements The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
