Summary Founded in 1969, the Winston Prouty Center provides inclusive education and support to promote the success of children and families. Our 5-STAR Early Learning Center (ELC) is licensed to serve 58 children ages 6 weeks ? 5 years. The ELC is an inclusive program influenced by the work of Reggio Emilia, Magda Gerber/Emmi Pickler/RIE, Early MTSS, CSEFEL Pyramid Model, Brazelton Touchpoints, and other leading models in the field. In all that we do, we aspire to offer joyful, reflective, respectful, responsive, relationship-based early care and education. We are expanding our early learning program this year! The center will be adding an Older Toddler/Young Preschool classroom which will serve children 2.5-3.5 years old. Every classroom in the ELC is made up of a three-person teaching team comprised of: 1 full-time Lead Teacher 1 full-time Assistant Teacher 1 part-time Afternoon Teacher Schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:30-4:00 Duties General Responsibilities Plan and implement a Reggio-inspired emergent curriculum that promotes children?s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development and learning Provide children with developmentally appropriate guidance that promotes children?s self-control, self-esteem and positive, respectful relationships with others Create and maintain an environment that supports children?s learning and safe, independent exploration Develop positive relationships with families and encouraging parent involvement Provide guidance and direction to Assistant Teachers in implementing the program and philosophy. Establish and maintain effective collegial relationships and communication among colleagues, supervisors, families and the community Curriculum, assessment and materials Plan and implement Reggio-inspired emergent curriculum for all children, including those with unique developmental or physical needs; include teaching team in process. Do regular observation and documentation for understanding children?s thinking, interests and needs, curriculum planning, and individual child assessment, including a written, developmental screenings twice a year (in the fall and the spring), ongoing records for individual children and regular written reports to parents. Implement IFSP and IEP goals and activities within the classroom and make adaptations to create an inclusive program that benefits all children. Participate in IFSP and IEP meetings, as required by Head Teacher. Create, organize and maintain a beautiful classroom environment that reflects the children and the community. Purchase materials and supplies for program use. Parent involvement and communication Establish and maintain frequent, effective communication with families inform them of center activities and facilitate children?s transitions between home and center Engage in home visits with families at least once a year. Encourage parent involvement in the program, including attending meetings and social events, supporting parent volunteers in the classroom, and other parent involvement activities Orient new parents to the classroom program Establish regular written communication with families, including letters, notes, daily child reports, orientation materials and newsletters. Requirements Bachelor?s degree in in Early Childhood Education or a related field More than one year of experience working with young children Nice To Haves Our program uses an Emergent Curriculum model inspired by the work being done in Reggio Emilia. A willingness to learn about and grow into a deeper understanding of this philosophy and approach to early care and education care is required. Candidates who have experience with Reggio Emilia, Emergent Curriculum, Waldorf, Montessori, or RIE will be given preference.
